Survey Solutions is a leading UK engineering surveying business, specialising in land surveys, measured building surveys, underground utility surveys, monitoring and site engineering services. Due to continued project demand, we are looking to appoint an experienced Utility Surveyor to join our land department in our Glasgow office. With a network of ten offices across the UK, our surveyors and engineers work on a wide range of major construction, infrastructure, development and civil engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Utilities Surveyor / Underground Utility Surveyor who wants to work with modern survey technology, develop their technical expertise and play a key role in delivering high-quality survey data for clients. As a Utility Surveyor, you will independently complete a full range of small to large-scale utility surveys and CCTV drainage surveys, using innovative equipment and survey methods. You will also process survey data in the office to a high working standard, ensuring accurate, reliable outputs for a variety of projects. You will be confident working on multi-disciplinary survey projects and will have a strong understanding of utility surveying methods, data capture, site procedures and health and safety requirements. You will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge with trainee and junior team members, supporting their development through practical onsite and office-based experience. This is a full-time role based from our Glasgow office, with standard office hours of Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm. Site hours may vary, so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required. Main Duties/Key Responsibilities: As a Utility Surveyor you will Complete a range of underground utility surveys and CCTV surveys of varying scale and complexity, independently and to a high standard Work on large and complex surveying projects alongside team members with varying levels of technical ability and experience Use a range of surveying equipment and technology to capture accurate site data, including GPS, Total Station and relevant utility detection equipment Provide guidance, direction and practical support to team members on larger or more complex survey projects Work effectively with trainee, junior and survey technician level staff, supporting their development through onsite and office-based learning Contribute to the smooth running of projects with minimal supervision, ensuring agreed goals, project outputs and quality standards are achieved Process raw survey data and CAD data accurately and efficiently to produce high-quality client deliverables Maintain survey instrumentation and equipment to a high working standard, ensuring it is fit for purpose before use Undertake initial site inspections and complete dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites Report any safety concerns, site issues or equipment problems to the wider surveying team or management Represent Survey Solutions professionally when liaising with colleagues, clients, contractors and site teams Requirements Previous experience working in the utilities surveying industry, ideally with 2–3 years’ experience Experience independently completing small to large-scale utility surveys and CCTV surveys of varying complexity Good knowledge of underground utility detection methods and survey best practice Experience and knowledge of traversing and GPS control networks Experience using GPS and Total Station equipment Experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to a high working standard A professional and approachable manner with excellent communication skills A strong understanding of health and safety requirements within surveying, civil engineering and construction environments Passionate about developing a long-term career with Survey Solutions A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English at Grade C / Grade 4 or above Full UK driving licence Able to commute to our Glasgow office Right to work in the UK Benefits 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service up to 30 days Company sick pay Life assurance Company vehicle Birthday gifts Flexible holidays Christmas bonus Long service awards Mental health and wellbeing schemes, including access to counselling and an employee assistance programme Overtime Refer a friend scheme — receive a payment for referring a friend to work for us if they are hired Flexible working hours Employee Recognition Scheme Training & Development: The opportunity to gain professional accreditation from the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors — CICES through our Approved Development Scheme The opportunity to develop key technical skills and competencies to succeed in a long-term career as a Surveyor Ongoing support from experienced surveyors and project teams Exposure to a wide range of construction, infrastructure, land and utility surveying projects across the UK
