Job overview
We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and creative CAMHS Practitioners to join our Core CAMHS Team. This post is available as a B6 to experienced practitioners or a B5 to someone newly qualified or completing their training.
We are a multi-disciplinary team offering a diverse range of professional approaches, including Family Therapy, Nursing, Occupational therapy. Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social work, and Mental health Practitioners. We work with young people with who are experiencing moderate to severe emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. As a team we believe that service user participation and feedback is an integral part of the development and delivery of services and supports care which is person centred and inclusive.
You will have a strong team work ethic, the ability to work autonomously, hold personal accountability and work well under pressure. You will have access to regular individual and group clinical supervision, CPD opportunities within and outside of the service, and the support of a robust and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will also be required to support the team to ensure the smooth running and organisation of the service, contributing towards research, evaluation, and service development, to ensure care is responsive, effective, and equitable.
Main duties of the job
As a CAMHS practitioner, you will be mainly working within a clinical setting in our out-patient clinic although in order meet the needs of our children and young people you may also be required to provide support within other environments such as home, education or community settings.
Your role will be to deliver excellent quality care which empowers children and young people, supports them in their recovery journey and enables them to contribute towards the development of services and care planning. You will work as an integral member for the CAMHS locality team, providing assessments, interventions and care coordination to children, young people, families, and carers. You will have a positive approach to the delivery of care which values working creatively and flexibly in partnership with service users, their networks and the wider professional networks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* To work as an integral member of the CAMHS Community Team, providing mental health assessments and formulations, through information gathering and analysis, including the use of routine outcome measures and within bio-psychosocial models of mental health.
* To utilise specialist knowledge and evidence-based models of mental health to make decisions about a child or young person’s mental health needs.
* To participate in the prevention and early detection of emotional and mental health difficulties in children and adolescents referred to the service.
* To participate in the planning and delivery of evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups to children, young people, families and carers.
* To evaluate and care plan in collaboration with the CAMHS Community Team, and wider CAMHS services, and considering individual, contextual and social factors.
* To use routine outcome monitoring to inform clinical practice and care planning.
* To utilise individual, group and peer supervision to support assessments, care planning and decision making.
* To participate in the team’s use of routine outcome monitoring to inform service design across CAMHS.
* To involve children and young people and family/carers, and provide opportunities or service users to contribute to their assessments and care planning.
* To involve children, young people and families/carers in the development of service provision through co-production, participation and service user evaluation.
Person specification
Education / Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RNMH), LD Nurse, Social work or Occupational therapist with relevant professional registration.
* Evidence of continued training and professional development
Experience
* Completion of nurse training programme or equivalent.
* Experience of managing workload and ability to prioritise.
* Experience of care coordination
* Experience of working with individuals, families and multi - disciplinary teams.
* Lived experience of mental health.
Skills & Abilities
* Able to communicate well with a variety of people
* Skills with working with others within a multi-disciplinary team and under supervision
* Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
* Able to tolerate ambiguity and to take decisions and ask for advice appropriately
* Experience with working with children and young people service users, their families and their carers
* Knowledge of contemporary policy and legislation relating to mental health and social care.
* Ability to identify and employ, as appropriate clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of effective clinical practice.
* Demonstrate a knowledge of the issues facing service users including social, financial and health issues
* Evidence of continuing professional development
