The Role

The Maintenance person is part of the Site Team reporting to the Facilities Manager. Duties of the role are listed below:

· Work with other members of the Site Team to meet the general needs of the school ensuring high standards of operational effectiveness and efficiency.

· Ensure all current Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Hygiene procedures and standards of performance are in place and are followed and maintained correctly, including ensuring the safe use, storage, calibration and disposal of chemicals and other dangerous substances.

· Ensure all equipment and machinery is maintained in good condition, is properly looked after and cleaned regularly to optimise its operation life and efficiency and maintain appropriate servicing records and carry out any required minor repairs.

· Undertake cleaning procedures and maintain high standards throughout the whole school area.

· Handle basic porterage tasks.

· Liaise with School stakeholders to ensure all School events which use facilities under the Site Team's control are properly timetabled and prepared for.

· Support the Grounds team with the moving, erection and dismantling of sports equipment to various locations.

· Provide effective, responsive and robust site maintenance ensuring the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the School buildings.

· Work with other members of the Site team to assess workloads and prioritise work schedules taking the School Calendar into account.

· Ensure all record keeping, safety documentation and risk assessments are properly completed.

· Secure the School site, unlocking and locking as required.

· Ensure all equipment, machinery, buildings and boundary gates and fences are secure.

· Work with the Site Team members to co-ordinate maintenance visits and service contracts supervising users of buildings and contractor attendance if required.

· Take responsibility for researching and ordering equipment relevant to the role.

· Work with the Site Team members to ensure maintenance and upkeep of the School minibuses.

· Provide back-up to the Minibus Drivers and Chaperones in case of unavailability (training will be provided as necessary).

· Grit and clear ice and snow as necessary.

· Develop and foster good relationships with adjoining neighbours.

· Carry out car parking duties as required.

· Provide out-of-hours assistance for evening and weekend School events as required (overtime payable).

· Other reasonable and associated duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or member of SLT.

Essential Requirements

· Experience of working in a similar role in a service environment

· Able to work both on own initiative and as a member of a team

· Can-do & enthusiastic attitude

· Flexible in approach

· Good communication skills

· Have a good understanding of current Health and Safety guidelines

· Ability to use maintenance equipment including IT

· Full clean driving licence

Desirable Requirements:

· Previous experience of working in a School environment

· D1 driving licence (training may be available)

· Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate within the grade as required from time to time.

Lochinver House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Working Hours would be 40 hours per week and would be:

Monday - Friday 06.30am to 15.30pm (with 1 hours unpaid lunch)

Holidays will be discussed at interview.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,500.00 per year
