Field Service Engineer – Bioscience, London
As a BD Bioscience Field Service Engineer, you will be part of a regional team of engineers, reporting directly to the Area Technical Manager. Your role will ensure first‑class service to our customers while adhering to the highest quality and regulatory standards in the highly regulated bioscience industry.
Responsibilities
* Provide field‑based and remote technical support to customers and colleagues.
* Carry out preventative maintenance, installation, relocation, repairs, and corrective field change orders on Flow Cytometry instrumentation.
* Diagnose electrical, fluidic, mechanical, hardware, software and laser failures using established procedures and techniques.
* Determine the most cost‑effective repair/solution to minimize downtime.
* Perform instrument certifications (IQ/OQ).
* Manage vehicle stock, ensuring all necessary spare parts and tools are available.
* Effectively manage technical escalations.
* Work toward service metrics as defined by the Service Organisation.
Qualifications
* HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, or extensive relevant experience as a Field Service Engineer.
* Proactive approach, ability to take the lead when required.
* IT knowledge.
* Flow Cytometry experience is a plus.
* Experience in Telecoms, Robotics, Automation, and Medical Devices industries.
* Ability to process knowledge across multi‑modular and diverse product ranges.
* Deliver high levels of customer service.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Currently living within a commutable distance of Central London.
Physical Demands
* Full‑time position, with evening work as required.
* Travel to and from customer sites each day.
* Lift 12–15 kg and work standing for prolonged periods.
Salary
£45,000 – £55,000 + bonus + benefits.
