Salary: £37,020 – £48,459 (+ market factors)
Hours: 37 per week, permanent

Overview
West Yorkshire Police are recruiting a Technical Surveillance Officer within the Regional Technical Surveillance Unit to support investigations into serious and organised crime, major crime, and anti‑corruption across Yorkshire and Humber. The role will develop through intermediate and advanced levels based on training and experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist support and technical assistance with covert and overt surveillance operations.
* Assist in detection and prevention of serious crime across the region.
* Operate and deploy surveillance equipment in urban and rural environments.
* Respond to 24‑hour call‑out for crime in action requests and attend standby shift allowance.
* Transport and manage heavy equipment over considerable distances.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant degree level qualification or significant equivalent accredited professional experience in a technical discipline.
* Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and competence with computerized systems.
* Full current UK/European driving licence and ability to operate from within a vehicle for extended periods.
* Capacity to work unsociable hours, often on short notice, and to carry heavy equipment.
* Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in potentially dangerous circumstances.
* Successful completion of the College of Policing TSU Course and enhanced personal and financial vetting checks.
Employment Conditions
This is a permanent position with a salary range of £37,020 to £48,459, adjusted by market factors. The vacancy will close on 31st May 2026 at 23:55. A stand‑by allowance applies to 24‑hour call‑out duties.
