Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team on a part‑time basis at HMP Bullingdon. This is a category B/C men's prison near Bicester in Oxfordshire. Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentation. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. Assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery. Deliver non‑judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries. Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ care, following our policies and procedures. Inspire excellence in colleagues by being proactive in the management of foot, ankle and lower‑extremity conditions and motivate the wider team to identify patients at high risk. Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service. Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner. We are looking for a caring, compassionate, innovative podiatrist to help us deliver our vision of high‑level MSK care in a secure setting.
Qualifications and Experience
* HCPC registration with proven post‑registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions
* Experience in assessing and treating diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery
* Self‑motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills
* Evidence of continuing professional development and work within the MSK speciality
* A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and ideally experience with electronic notes systems
Compensation
Salary is between £40,000 and £49,000 pro‑rata depending on experience, with up to £49,000 per annum pro‑rata in the current role. The role is 3 sessions per month, totalling 12 hours a month.
