About the role:
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Front of House Manager to lead our service team at Chilley Farm Kitchen. You'll be the linchpin between the kitchen and our customers, ensuring a seamless and exceptional dining experience. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for all front-of-house operations, allowing our chef to focus on culinary excellence.
You'll manage daily service, oversee the team of kitchen runners, and ensure our dining areas are consistently welcoming and clean. Your core focus will be on staff management, operational efficiency, taking orders and engaging with customers, and maintaining our high standards of customer service. You'll handle everything from rota scheduling and training to resolving customer issues and driving team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the front-of-house team, including kitchen runners, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and performing their duties efficiently.
* Create and manage staff rotas to ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts, managing staff holiday and sickness.
* Oversee all front-of-house operations, including taking orders, table management, and ensuring timely food service.
* Act as the main point of contact for all customer enquiries and feedback, resolving any issues promptly and professionally to ensure a positive experience.
* Maintain and uphold high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the dining areas and service stations.
* Assist with general farm shop and café operations, including supporting events and ensuring smooth communication between the front of house and kitchen teams.
* Manage daily cash ups and end-of-day procedures.
About you:
* Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment.
* Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure.
* A customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for food and customer service.
* Basic barista skills are a plus, but a willingness to support the team by preparing beverages is essential.
* Comfortable around dogs—we have lots of four-legged customers
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.00-£19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 45 per week
