Nights Senior Staff Nurse – Elgar Ward
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Full time 37.5 hours

About you
You will have in-depth experience of working with patients in a mental health service. Being a strong team player, you will be able to build and maintain effective relationships across clinical teams.
You will have good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport with patients.
You will also be highly resilient, able to work under pressure, and have good problem-solving skills.
You will have an active NMC registration.
Main duties include:
1. Planning, organising, and deploying staff according to competencies and workload to meet patient needs.
2. Developing, implementing, reviewing, and promoting effective outcome-focused care plans tailored to individual needs, attending ward rounds.
3. Communicating effectively with all MDT members, managing care environment risks, and reducing restrictive practices.
4. Building and maintaining relationships with patients, families, and carers to foster trust and address their needs and concerns.
5. Ensuring all patient records, risk assessments, and interventions are up-to-date and accurate.
6. Using reflection and supervision to learn from events and improve patient outcomes.
7. Providing and receiving clinical supervision.
8. Supporting the division to meet specific outcome measures.
9. Completing ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy.
Elgar Ward:
A 12-bed service for adult women with acquired/traumatic brain injury, providing programmes of care to enhance recovery and community reintegration.
Elgar is a female admission service offering continuous support and interventions for behavioral and cognitive issues, including social behavior and self-harm risk. It supports patient progress by testing and consolidating daily living skills, cognition, and behavioral management in a safe environment, with full MDT support. After treatment, patients are supported to transition to less restrictive environments at St Andrew's or back in their local area.
