The role involves a broad range of outdoor, maintenance, and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the estate throughout the year. Key Responsibilities Grounds and Estate Maintenance Fence and gate repairs and upkeep Hedge cutting, maintenance, and management Paddock care and maintenance Polo field cutting, upkeep, and seasonal management Exercise track maintenance and management Overseeing woodland management contractors Firewood preparation and clearing Ditch clearing and drainage maintenance Tree planting and care Stables and Outbuildings Maintenance and seasonal preparation of stables and barns Tack room upkeep and organization Maintenance and cleaning of drinking troughs General repairs to outbuildings and outdoor furniture Equipment and Vehicles Routine tractor maintenance Care and basic maintenance of a small fleet of vehicles Occasional driving as required Coordination of servicing, maintenance, and general repairs Administration and Operations Record keeping and general estate administration Key control, alarms, and estate security Fire safety management Pest control Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and outdoor staff Overseeing casual or part-time local staff Pool maintenance Varied ad hoc duties as required Full-Time Role (Additional Duties) In addition to the above, the full-time position includes: Handyman work (basic electrics, plumbing, carpentry, and light building) Assistance with gardening and grounds maintenance team Broader coordination and management of estate projects Skills and Requirements Proven experience in estate or land management Fluent in written and spoken English Strong knowledge of relevant rural and environmental legislation (hedgerows, woodlands, highways, trees, etc.) Tractor licence Full UK driving licence Good administrative and record-keeping skills Familiarity with National Trust or similar estate standards Practical handyman skills (for full-time position) Friendly, personable, and flexible approach Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strategic thinker with strong planning and problem-solving skills
