Carmcichael UK are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join us on a highways project in Hampshire. As Quantity Surveyor you'll be working within the commercial team on National Highways Maintenance and Response Contracts. You will assist in the commercial management of all the different elements of this contract from emergency repairs to incident response, routine maintenance & minor improvement schemes. - Holds the relevant qualifications (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable) - Experience within a similar role in the Highways/Infrastructure Industry - Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel - Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally - Excellent organiser with proven time management skills and ability to manage different tasks at once As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following: Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Help ensure that business targets and KPI’s are met / exceeded. Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are made and received on time. Preparation and review of monthly cost reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members Forecasting and monitoring spend against approved Client budgets. Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors. Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including communications to client as appropriate. Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management. Client facing role so good communication skills are essential. Who are we looking for? Team player and working with a highly skilled diverse team. Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience. Experience within a similar role Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally. Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills. Professional Accreditation desired eg. RICS, ICE etc
