An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Occupational Therapist working within Independent Living & Community Social Care, Reablement Services. The post will work across the Community Occupational Therapy service and Community Resource Team (CRT).

The service works in partnership with vulnerable adults to support them to live independently at home and connected to their communities.

CRT is a joint service provided by Cardiff Council and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board that aims to support adults, through therapy and/ or home care, to recover or maintain their ability to live independently at home.


About the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking assessments of need and agreeing outcomes with service users and carers. Interventions are likely to include equipment provision and major adaptations.

In addition, the Occupational Therapist will have responsibility for the line Management and Supervision (both formal and informal) of up to 10 staff of CRT Reablement & Bridging Assessment Officers.

Be responsible for complex, multifaceted cases including complaints, complex social situations, or those which may result in legal action against the Council. These will be agreed with the Team Manager as appropriate.

To be actively involved in business planning, and take lead role for an area of service development, as identified from the business plan each year, with the Team Manager through the Personal review process.


What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate must also be able to work to strict deadlines and be extremely flexible. You must be able to work autonomously as well as being able to work as part of a team.

You will have excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to problem solve and provide outcome focused interventions.

You will have experience of managing/supervising others and it is essential that you hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the Health Care Professionals Council.


Additional information

With effect from 1st April 2024, this role attracts a market supplement of £3,000 (full time equivalent). This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.

We are committed to your development and have well-established supervision and Personal Performance and Development schemes, training and CPD programmes (where appropriate), and a Journal club.

It is essential that you have experience of working proactively with clients with physical disabilities and/or older people, hold a full valid driving licence and have use of a vehicle with business insurance.

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
