We are looking for a highly skilled
Service Designer
to play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding operational service capabilities across both legacy and transformed technology landscapes. This will be working for a high profile client with 2 day hybrid each week in Reading. This is a key position within Service Operations and Assurance function, ensuring that service designs are robust, scalable, and aligned to long-term business strategy.
You will work closely with Service Readiness and partner organisations to ensure smooth transitions, operational effectiveness, and service stability. The role will involve driving the standardisation of service design processes, evaluating supplier capabilities, and refining in-life operational processes to deliver the right outcomes for our customers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering operational service design across IT, Network, and Business environments.
* Aligning service design to business strategy and operational maturity goals.
* Ensuring effective service transition and accountability with partners.
* Embedding consistent and standardised service design processes across internal teams and partners.
* Supporting operational strategy through service design, configuration management, automation, and process development.
* Conducting supplier capability assessments and participating in RFQ/RFP evaluations.
* Refining operational processes to assure stability and performance.
About You
You are a service design expert with strong experience in IT and network technologies, ideally within mobile telecoms and BSS. You thrive in complex, multi-sourced managed service environments and are confident managing senior stakeholders up to C-level.
Skills and experience:
* Proven track record in service design across IT and network technologies (e.g. BSS, OSS, RAN, Core Network).
* Experience defining services for on-premise, hybrid, and public cloud-based solutions.
* Strong knowledge of service management frameworks and security controls (e.g. ITIL, ISO27001).
* Hands-on experience in RFQ/RFP evaluation and contract definition.
* Demonstrable success in transformation programmes.
* Ability to problem solve and deliver tactical and strategic solutions in constrained environments.
* Strong IT background, ideally in mobile telecoms and BSS.
* Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to create service support manuals.
