Manufacturing Technician – Farnborough

Auxitrol Weston Operating Unit consists of 4 manufacturing plants, Auxitrol SA (France), Weston Aerospace Ltd (UK), Norwich Aero Products Inc. (USA), Auxitrol Weston (Mexico), with R & D departments as well and 5 repair capabilities in France, UK, USA, Singapore and Guangzhou (China).
Our world-renowned expertise, places us at the forefront of suppliers.
Weston Aerospace Ltd has approximately 160 employees at Farnborough whose responsibilities are to design and manufacture temperature, speed and pressure sensors for gas turbine and airframe applications.
We also have extensive environmental test facilities to verify our products’ performance, replicating and exceeding hostile operating conditions.
We have another smaller manufacturing dedicated analogue indicator site based at Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire with 18 employees.
Job Overview/Purpose:
Manufacturing Technician with high level of competence to implement changes to existing processes. Responsible for maintaining current process & equipment standards while delivering cost savings through manufacturing equipment and process change.
Primary Responsibilities
Shop floor support: hands on technician, who is good at developing relationships with shop floor operators.
A high level of technical competence / capacity: able to evaluate and manage equipment and process risks, using a structured approach to problem solving.
Primary support to ME / Indicators Production team, in making reasoning-based decisions and demonstrating technical evidence for manufacturing process change and adherence.
Assist in the Validation of changes to achieve capable processes that meet all technical requirements.
Must have a combination of engineering skills coupled with problem solving ability and ability operate within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ideal candidate will love a challenge and be energetic at tackling complex issues.
Process improvement: ability to understand manufacturing processes and implement changes to reduce cost. These changes include, but are not limited to: Re-engineering processes, Automation, Robotics, Automated inspection and testing.
A Good understanding of mechanical assembly and electrical testing. and key manufacturing processes such as: welding, vacuum brazing and coil winding.
A willingness to provide support to manufacturing, and be prepared to work on the production line, as required.
Experienced in introducing Automation, Robotics and Automated Test Equipment would be benificial. Strong ability to build relationships and drive change introducing new ideas.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
1. Engineering qualification – Level 4/5
2. Previous experience in a similar role or experience that encompasses the above responsibilities
3. Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing, or similar
4. Strong analytical and engineering skills
5. Technically sound
6. Can do attitude, combined with “Out the Box” thinking
7. 2D 3D Modelling (Tooling, jigs and fixtures)
8. Excel & Minitab basic knowledge
9. SPC basic knowledge

10. Experience of: Pick and Place, Robotics, Automation, ERP / Factory track
11. Pressure and Density product ranges
12. AS9100
13. MES exposure
