Attendance Support Assistant - Full Time (SEND School, Newcastle)
Monday to Friday | Long‑term with potential to go permanent
A supportive and forward‑thinking SEND school in Newcastle is looking for a committed Attendance Support Assistant to join their team on a full‑time basis. This long‑term role offers an excellent opportunity to progress into a permanent position for the right candidate.
About the Role
You will play a key part in improving student attendance by offering practical, emotional, and motivational support. The role will involve both school‑based work and off‑site visits, so a UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support and encourage students to attend school regularly.
Complete home visits to collect students or engage with families.
Build positive relationships with students who face barriers to attendance.
Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and SEND teams.
Assist in creating and implementing attendance improvement plans.
Maintain accurate records and provide regular attendance updates.
Support wider pastoral duties across the school.
Always uphold safeguarding and confidentiality standards.
Requirements
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Confident, resilient, and able to engage with young people.
Strong communication skills when working with students, families, and staff.
Experience in education, youth work, pastoral support, or SEND settings is beneficial but not essential.
