We are a specialist team of nurses providing expert care for epilepsy patients across Kent and Medway. Our service connects people with epilepsy, neurologists and general practitioners to enable optimal seizure control through education, support and clinical management.
Responsibilities
* Manage a complex clinical caseload independently, delivering specialist clinical pathways.
* Collaborate with the Operational Manager to drive strategic development and enhance clinical practice.
* Offer expert clinical advice to multidisciplinary teams and support staff.
* Provide assessments and support via phone, online, face‑to‑face clinic appointments and patient homes.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with governance and quality standards.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate education in a specialist clinical area.
* First degree in professional nursing/therapy.
* Non‑medical independent prescriber, where applicable.
* Professional registration in a relevant nursing or therapeutic discipline.
* Evidence of continued professional development appropriate to the role.
Desirable attributes
* Accreditation for clinical education.
* Membership of appropriate special interest group(s).
* Masters degree or willingness to work towards one.
* Clinical supervisor role experience.
Experience required
* Experience implementing change of clinical practice or process.
* Previous experience at Band 6/7 in a clinical setting.
* Experience supervising and appraising staff or students.
* Experience as a clinical educator or mentor.
* Experience participating in audit and managing complaints.
* Knowledge of quality issues, clinical governance and outcome measures.
Knowledge essential
* Up‑to‑date clinical practice and current issues in nursing/therapy.
* Understanding of multidisciplinary working and inter‑professional relationships.
* Research awareness and understanding of relevant legislation.
Skills and abilities
* Full UK driving licence.
* Excellent assessment skills and ability to make clinical judgments under pressure.
* Advanced clinical and non‑clinical reasoning skills.
* Planning, prioritising and managing own and others caseload.
* Problem‑solving approach and advanced communication skills.
* Appraisal skills and IT competency.
* Team working and clinical leadership.
