Responsibilities
* Work under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse or nursing associate.
* Assist the nursing team with patient care and facilitate the smooth running of the department.
* Provide front‑facing care to patients, relatives, carers and colleagues with a focus on excellent customer service and dignity.
* Perform clinical activities such as collection of urine and faecal samples, swabs, recording fluid intake/output, changing stomas and urine drainage bags, catheter care, and measuring vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, saturations).
* Score the National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) and advise the registrant nurse of any changes in a patient’s condition.
* Care for enhanced care observation patients (1:1) or bay‑based observation as required.
* Support the implementation of plans of care for individual patients.
* Assist patients to eat and drink as required, including menu selection and awareness of special diets and cultural requirements.
* Enable and assist patients to maintain personal hygiene.
* Contribute to the safe movement of patients, using equipment to mobilise and move patients after mobility assessment, ensuring patient comfort.
* Maintain high quality care and attention to detail, and deliver clinical care with respect and dignity.
