The role
Are you a passionate and resilient Food Technology Teacher looking to make a real difference in a specialist setting? An established SEMH school in Bexley are seeking a dedicated Food Technology specialist to join their committed team on a full-time, temp to perm basis from September 2026 or sooner. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach and inspire students who are unable to attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons, predominantly permanent exclusion. About the Provision This specialist setting supports a diverse and dynamic cohort of pupils across secondary key stages. The school supports studens with SEMH needs and some other learning difficulties and it is a co educational provision. There are about 6 students per class, and an extremely supportive team, including support staff to help in every lesson on a 1:1 or general basis. As a Food Technology Teacher, you will: Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons tailored to varying abilities Support students in developing essential life skills, independence and confidence Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse behavioural and educational needs Build strong, positive relationships to re-engage students in learning Work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary team The Ideal Candidate Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and/or KS4 Experience in Alternative Provision, PRU or working with vulnerable learners (desirable) Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills A patient, empathetic and resilient approach If this sounds like a role that is ideal for you and you are looking now or for September, send your CV to laurapower@rikama-education.com or call 0203 800 1029.
