This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.
As a Financial Lines Claims Handler, you will be responsible for handling claims that occur within our Financial Lines classes. You will ensure proper servicing and settlement of claims within your designated authority, working in partnership with senior handlers and claims management while maintaining high standards of technical file handling and customer service.
Claims Handler:
- Reports directly to the Core Claims Manager.
- Oversees claims from the Technical Claims Manager.
- Collaborates closely with team colleagues.
Job Responsibilities & Competencies:
* Manage, assess, and adjust assigned claims, ensuring accurate coverage assessment and correct file reserving.
* Proactively manage claim files, ensuring documentation is correctly filed, and claims are regularly updated and diarised.
* Handle claims promptly, fairly, and with integrity according to The Hartford claims management guidelines.
* Work closely with claims management and team members on individual claims.
* Maintain portfolio of Financial Lines TPA/DCA loss bdx and payments.
* Receive mentoring and coaching from experienced senior claims handlers and claims management.
* Maintain high communication standards with claims management and underwriting, sharing significant claim information and trends.
* Share large loss information promptly and issue large loss reports appropriately.
* Liaise with departments like Underwriting, Finance, Actuaries, and Reinsurance.
* Attend market claim meetings as required.
* Communicate with brokers, stakeholders, and policyholders as needed.
* Coordinate with other The Hartford offices as necessary.
* Assist with reinsurance issues as required.
* Ensure compliance with Lloyds standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements, including TCF.
Procedures:
* Adhere to The Hartford policies, regulatory requirements, and Claim Manual Guidelines.
* Undertake ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Capabilities:
* Relevant Casualty claims handling experience.
* Working knowledge of ECF2.
* Willingness to develop further knowledge of insurance through learning and exams.
* Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet deadlines.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
* Understanding of general insurance principles.
* Knowledge of FCA/PRA and Lloyds rules and guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
A-level or University degree.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years relevant Financial Lines claims handling experience.
