About the Role:
We are supporting a leading UK business in their search for a
Senior Payroll Specialist
to join their high-performing payroll team.
This is a key role that sits between the Payroll Manager and a team of Payroll Specialists, designed to bring senior-level expertise, leadership, and support to an already well-established in-house function that operates with the complexity of a bureau.
You'll be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll, while also supporting Time & Attendance (T&A) processes, audits, and systems development. You'll play a key role in driving payroll best practice and providing hands-on support across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* End-to-end payroll processing for multiple UK sites
* Supporting and training team members on complex payroll issues
* Ensuring compliance with HMRC, pensions, and statutory legislation
* Assisting with audits, system updates, and process improvements
* Managing and maintaining T&A systems and supporting new site rollouts
* Acting as a key contact for payroll queries and internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience in a
senior payroll position
(in-house or bureau-style)
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
* Comfortable working in a multi-site, complex payroll environment
* Confident with T&A systems and implementing process improvements
* Advanced Excel skills
* Experience with payroll software.
* A proactive, team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills
* A strong work ethic and genuine passion for payroll
