The Mechanical Services Manager will oversee the effective delivery and management of mechanical services within the facilities management department. This permanent role is based in Coventry and requires a proactive approach to ensure successful operations in a not-for-profit environment.

Description
Lead the mechanical services team and contractors to deliver compliant, high‑quality planned and reactive maintenance across all campuses.
Assess mechanical issues, allocate appropriate resources and ensure safe, timely, value‑for‑money repairs.
Maintain strong customer relationships, providing clear updates and driving a proactive, planned‑first approach.
Manage team performance, workloads, rotas and development, ensuring 24/7 service continuity and high standards of H&S.
Monitor KPIs, compliance tasks and contractor performance, driving continuous improvement and right‑first‑time delivery.
Oversee planned maintenance programmes, minimise disruption and ensure safe working practices and robust RAMS.
Provide quotations, designs and minor works support, ensuring best value and effective delivery.
Manage stock, authorise purchases and act as a visible Estates contact across campus.Profile
Qualifications
HND/HNC in Building Services or Hard FM (or equivalent experience).
Degree in Building Services/Hard FM desirable.Experience
Strong background managing mobile maintenance teams and high‑volume reactive works.
Experience coordinating specialist contractors (HVAC, pressure systems, LEV, water safety, drainage etc.).
Solid understanding of H&S, including writing RAMS and managing safe systems of work.
Proven ability to deliver value‑for‑money services, manage budgets and drive efficiencies.
Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance.
Confident using FM systems, finance tools and general IT applications.
Experience working in complex or multi‑site environments is an advantage.Skills & Behaviours
