PROJECT: Restore the Thaw, Skills & Wellbeing department

POSITION AVAILABLE: 39 hours per week.

This role is fixed term until 31st July 2026 and funded by Dwr Cymru.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Project Manager

LOCATION: Project activities will take place within the Thaw river catchment area in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Overview:

Innovate Trust are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic person to lead the Restore the Thaw project as a Project Officer. The project is run in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Countryside Team and their Restore the Thaw Landscape project.

The project supports people with learning disabilities and other additional learning needs to improve the biodiversity along the River Thaw through hands-on conservation work and wildlife monitoring initiatives. The project additionally seeks to educate individuals about the value of the natural world and our part in protecting it.

The Project Officer will facilitate supported volunteering opportunities, wellbeing in nature sessions and accredited and non-accredited training which has been adapted to suit the needs of people with learning disabilities.

The project will sit within the Skills & Wellbeing department at Innovate Trust which incorporates a range of innovative projects. You will be the sole Project Officer on this project, but will work closely with your colleagues to share learning and ensure a high standard of support is delivered to individuals across the department.

The ideal candidate will:

* Be committed to providing meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities.
* Enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in nature.
* Be able to manage their own tasks and work to set deadlines.
* Be willing to embrace digital technology to achieve the aims and objectives of the department.
* Enjoy public facing duties such as engaging with individuals, their support networks and project partners.
* Be confident in taking the lead in outdoor and classroom based sessions.

An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for these roles.
