Psychology Graduate aspiring to be an SEN Teaching Assistant, leading to becoming an Education or Clinical Psychologist
You will work with students that will test your skill and patience to its absolute limit. You will see some behaviour that may be shocking, but it is part of the role. You will be working with students aged 3-18 with a range of SEN and SEMH in this provision. Context is key in all these roles and in understanding the students you work with.
Would working 1:1 with students with Mild Learning Difficulties and Speech and Language Difficulties help further your career?
Would you like to increase your experience working with SEN pupils of varying abilities and behaviours? All pupils will have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues, and each will have an EHCP.
Having placed Psychology Graduates into SEN Teaching Assistant roles for the last 5 years, it has become clear that this is a fantastic way to gain the practical experience needed to become an Occupational Therapist or Educational Psychologist in the future. This role is also an excellent way to obtain the references you need to progress onto a MSc or research project over other Psychology Graduates.
