We are looking for a committed, highly motivated Customer Service Advisor with a real passion for providing excellent customer service, putting the customer first in everything that they do. You will need to maintain high standards often under pressure and be able to use your initiative, showing a positive and flexible approach within a team, in a diverse and challenging environment. Proven experience in problem solving, excellent communication skills with the ability to handle difficult situations is essential. The successful applicant must: be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in at least Mathematics and English with excellent numeracy and literacy skills; have proven experience working in a customer services environment handling incoming customer enquiries in person and by phone; be able to work on own initiative, produce work to a high standard of accuracy under pressure in a busy environment and be proficient in the use of IT systems; be prepared to work with other members of the team to provide cover for the working hours of the customer service centre on an agreed rota basis. It is desirable that applicants have local government experience, ideally with a working knowledge of legacy benefits, housing and/or council tax and a knowledge of the local area and community.
