Our client is a global property & real estate organization, working across both commercial and residential sectors. They have a requirement for a Senior Engineering Manager to be based at a high-profile and new development near Oxford. The proposed mixed-use plot will include commercial office space, residential areas, retail shops, and R&D Labs, given the science/pharmaceutical leaning of the area with close ties to the University.
This role involves overseeing the development from construction stage to fit-out and handover at Practical Completion. The Senior Engineering Manager will witness the commissioning of M&E systems and in the future, handover to various tenants and stakeholders. It is a rare opportunity to be involved from the very beginning of the development. Coordination with construction and projects teams will be vital, acting as a go-between and providing technical support including involvement with building plans.
The Senior Engineering Manager will be the technical services lead for all functions and services within the development. In addition to being an expert in various engineering and technical disciplines, they will act as the technical ambassador for the development, its occupiers, and customers. The guideline salary for this position is up to £85k, along with a generous benefits package including bonus and healthcare.
Given the R&D/pharmaceutical aspect of the role, it would be advantageous for prospective engineering managers to have experience in a similar critical environment such as healthcare/pharmaceutical/production sites. This is a client and customer-facing role where effective management of systems and procedures in the delivery and continuity of service of Mechanical, Electrical, VT, Public Health, and IT Infrastructure Services and Energy performance is key.
The Senior Engineering Manager will also be actively involved in the management of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing for all users of the Estate. They will report to the Estate Director and work alongside the property and facilities team, deputizing where necessary. The individual will provide strategic technical direction, strong leadership, as well as operational planning and solutions covering MEP, VT operations, and Energy Management to provide a world-class service.
They will act as the Managing Agent interface for technical activity with the assistance and support as required by the company's central engineering team. Candidates must be fully qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical/electrical), ideally having served a full apprenticeship. A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Senior Engineering Management role, or as a hard-services Account Manager/Director within the facilities and maintenance sector is required.
This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Engineering/Technical Manager to move to working "client-side", based outside of central London. It suits those in the Berkshire/Oxfordshire area looking to reduce their commute. Joining a market-leading Real Estate firm offers internal training and progression, and the chance to work on a brand new development where they can shape it for years to come.
