Role Overview
A large FMCG manufacturer is currently looking to appoint an experienced Warehouse & Transport Supervisor to their growing site based in Grimsby, N.E Lincolnshire. Main Purpose:
* To manage the movement of all materials through warehousing, production and transport.
* To utilise the available staff and resources in order to safely and efficiently meet the agreed distribution/production requirements of the sales department and the customer, whilst keeping within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working closely with the Warehouse & Transport Manager, accountable for the supply chain success and for the development of the warehouse and transport operations to ensure efficiency, best practice, service excellence and outstanding customer service.
* Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, product control and finance.
* Organise and co-ordinate raw material, WIP, finished stock and consumable items, stock checks at all warehouse locations, accurately record on a monthly basis.
* Liaise with hauliers to monitor and prepare costing for transport tenders for the company to achieve the most competitive costs whilst achieving the required deliveries and hygiene criteria.
* Liaise with the Finance department on an budget report requirements.
* Provide coaching and development to ensure warehouse and transport team are engaged, and motivated to provide a core service in a timely manner, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
* Responsibility for the control and provision of customer documentation for deliveries and co-ordinate all drivers ensuring prompt availability of loading plans and vehicles to minimise delays with daily loading schedule.
* To review and evaluate personnel performance in terms of quality, quantity, housekeeping, hygiene, attitude, behaviour and flexibility. To correct deficiencies through training, motivation and if necessary disciplinary procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
* Ensure all product entering, stored in and leaving the warehouse is correctly identified.
* Continually working towards improvements to systems and procedures within department.
* Manage the service contracts for all vehicles and forklift trucks within the warehouse department and ensure all legal and company hygiene requirements are met.
Key Requirements:
* Experience as a Warehouse Supervisor / Manager within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Strong leadership, motivational interpersonal and communication skills.
* LEAN / Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience.
* CPC (Transport Management) preferable however not essential.
* Highly commercial attitude, numerate with strong analysis, negotiation and influencing skills.
