Job Description: Senior Bookkeeper
Location: Colchester (Office-based)Type: Permanent (Full-time or Part-time)
Role Overview
The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of financial and bookkeeping activities. The role requires a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records using double-entry bookkeeping
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Monitor bank accounts and track cash flow
- Process and manage payroll
- Prepare monthly management accounts including profit & loss and balance sheet reports
- Oversee credit control processes
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Carry out general administrative and finance-related tasks as required
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of practical bookkeeping experience
- Experience with accounting software (ideally Intact Xline)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment
