The student will focus on developing advanced scientific data analysis methods for Super-MuSR, our new flagship instrument. About the role and a summary of key duties & responsibilities Develop and implement scientific data analysis methods for Super-MuSR. Work closely with the muon team to understand the scientific requirements and challenges. Contribute to the development of advanced data analysis methodologies for the broader ISIS and muon community. Person Specification Key - Shortlisting (S), at Interview (I) or both (S&I) Essential: Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement (S) Are required or have requested to take an industrial placement year (S) Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement (S) Able to commence employment in summer 2026 (S) Experience with data analysis and visualisation (S&I) Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) (S) Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively (S&I) Able to interpret data critically and form scientific conclusions (S&I) Desirable : Knowledge of muon spectroscopy or related experimental techniques (S&I) Employee Benefits: 30 days holiday (in addition to 10.5 bank holidays and privilege days).
