Job Title: Fire Safety Officer Reports to: Head of Health & Safety Rate: £18.26 per hour Location: Newcastle Hours: 37 hours per week Work Pattern: Monday - Sunday (flexible across the week as required) Hybrid Working: 1 day per week in the office. Suitable candidates may work the remainder of the week from home. Job Purpose To advise the Council on the most appropriate and cost-effective fire safety standards for its premises and operational activities, aligning with relevant statutory requirements and fire safety codes of practice. Key Responsibilities Typical duties include (but are not limited to): Conducting fire risk assessments, fire safety inspections, and DSEAR assessments across Council premises and operational sites. Providing professional fire safety advice to directorates to support risk identification and mitigation. Investigating fire safety-related incidents when required. Preparing fire safety assessments, CAD fire safety plans, and detailed reports. Supporting the development and monitoring of corporate fire safety policies, standards, and strategies. Assisting in the design, procurement, and delivery of fire safety training. Keeping up to date with legislation, technical standards, and developments in fire safety management and advising the Council accordingly. Maintaining positive working relationships with internal directorates and key external stakeholders. Representing the Council at relevant local, regional, and national fire safety meetings and forums. Promoting and implementing Newcastle City Council's Diversity, Equality, Equity, and Accessibility policies in all aspects of the role. Supporting the maintenance of a healthy, safe, and secure working environment by following all policies and procedures
