Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics
Join the School of Applied Sciences (SOAS) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) as an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics. This full‑time, permanent position involves teaching, research, and industry engagement within our MPharm programme and beyond.
About the School
The School of Applied Sciences comprises approximately 100 academic and research staff and 60+ postgraduate researchers. It offers a cohesive portfolio of science courses, CPD, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The School is supported by research centres such as the Centre for Biomedical Research, Science Communication Unit, and Centre for Sustainable Agri‑food and Environment. State‑of‑the‑art laboratories and imaging suite support cutting‑edge research and student learning.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, delivery, and assessment of teaching modules in pharmaceutics as part of the MPharm programme and contribute to other College programmes.
* Supervise PhD and postgraduate students in research projects that advance pharmaceutics knowledge.
* Produce independent research, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and pursue external research income.
* Develop and maintain links with pharmaceutical industry partners to enrich curriculum and enable collaborative research.
* Provide leadership in teaching practice and assessment, ensuring students graduate as competent pharmacy practitioners.
* Engage in faculty governance, curriculum development, and continuous improvement activities.
* Maintain awareness of developments in pharmaceutics and related professional best practices.
Qualifications
* PhD in pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical sciences, or a closely related field; alternatively a relevant master’s with significant professional practice.
* Demonstrated experience leading independent research in pharmacy or related disciplines.
* Track record of teaching and assessment in higher education, preferably within an MPharm programme.
* Experience working with industrial pharmaceutics and securing industry collaboration.
* Strong organisational, leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to motivate and manage teams.
* Evidence of consistent engagement with latest developments in pharmaceutics and professional practice.

Further Information
This is a full‑time, permanent post with standard DBS clearance required. The position will be campus‑based for at least 60 % of the time, with work‑from‑home arrangements for the remainder. Salary offers will be aligned with UWE’s guideline framework.
