As a Graduate Mathematical Modeller, you’ll be part of a progressive team tackling global challenges—from climate change and water scarcity to pollution and flood risk. You’ll work with engineers and researchers using advanced modelling to support strategic decisions and sustainable infrastructure.
Your work may involve preventing sewage spills, devising nature-based solutions, or minimising the carbon footprint of flood defences, delivering tangible benefits to communities and ecosystems worldwide.
Responsibilities
* Hydrodynamic & water quality modelling: Use industry-standard packages (e.g. TUFLOW, Flood Modeller Pro, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, Delft3D) and CFD software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent, Flow-3D) to simulate environmental systems and support design decisions.
* Data analysis & insight: Analyse large datasets to uncover patterns, inform decisions, and provide insight into environmental impacts.
* Computational innovation: Develop scripts/tools using Python or R to analyse data and enhance visualisations; pursue innovation through technologies such as AI, cloud computing, remote sensing, and digital twins.
* Collaboration & support: Work with engineers, planners, and asset managers to deliver high-impact solutions; mentor junior colleagues and contribute to team development.
* Professional growth: Receive mentoring and training toward Chartership and technical specialisation.
Candidate Specification
We are looking for committed and motivated graduates with a genuine passion to make a difference. To be eligible, you should have some relevant experience (excluding placements) and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (obtained no earlier than 2024) or expected to achieve one, in one of the following disciplines:
* Mathematics
* Civil Engineering
* Mechanical Engineering
* Hydrology
* Geophysics
