Job Title: Business Analyst

Function: Finance - Trading and Analysis

Location: Nottingham/Alfreton/Hybrid

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract/Secondment (9 months)

Salary: £36,446 with potential to rise to £40,495 over 3 years

Closing Date: Sunday 1st March 2026

NHS Supply Chain has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our team as we enhance and modernise our services. Our mission is to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first, and this role plays a key part in helping us deliver on our strategic objectives.

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to undertake a broad range of economic and product analyses. In this role, you will monitor and report on external economic trends and assess their financial impact on the organisation. You will also evaluate pricing and margin performance, ensuring that significant pricing decisions are grounded in sound economic rationale.

This position requires strong analytical capability and the ability to combine financial and accounting knowledge with commercial insight.

We are seeking a Business Analyst who will:

* Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
* Work with existing systems and protocols to carry out designated economic research activities, either to support others or to deliver prescribed outcomes.
* Provide basic financial modelling input into business cases, costs, and schedules to support growth in the business, alongside extracting and combining data to generate reports.
* Assist with the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
* Resolve complex queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring the most complex issues to others.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

* Previous experience of working in a Business Analyst role.
* The ability to research and interpret economic trends and assess their impact on the business.
* Skilled in extracting, combining, and interpreting data to identify key themes and trends.
* Previous experience in building or contributing to financial models for business cases, pricing, and cost analysis.
* A financial background would be advantageous but not essential.
* Proficiency in Excel and IBM Cognos.
* Awareness of Python and Power BI or a willingness to learn, supported by strong process and organisational skills.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
