Brakes are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Assistant to join the team on site in Newhouse, on a Full Time Permanent basis.
In this role, you will carry out QC assessments of products to ensure quality meets specifications and reject out-of-spec items. You will monitor fresh produce to ensure consistent customer quality. As a Quality Control Assistant, you will liaise with and report findings to the Sysco GB Technical Teams and support any requests made by them.
Key Accountabilities:
* Carry out product assessments against specifications and conduct store walks.
* Analyze customer complaint data in collaboration with NDCs QCs.
* Liaise with category TMs and suppliers regarding specifications and product standards, including providing weekly surveillance photographs.
* Perform ad hoc reporting or assessments based on company needs, including spot checks on high-risk customers, new onboardings, or issues identified with sales colleagues.
* Administer rejection and QC hold processes with the business and suppliers.
* Monitor and assess the quality of produce daily, including compliance with specifications, stock rotation, and inbound produce quality.
* Follow up with assessments on subsequent batches when necessary.
* Assess stock quality at regional depots.
* Maintain housekeeping of the QC facility and monitor equipment.
* Support depot training to ensure all procedures are followed.
* Collaborate with NDC QCs, TMs, FD Tech, and depot management.
* Support technical functions at the depot as requested by supervisors or managers.
You:
Essential to your success is experience in food operations or working with food, along with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. A background in the food industry is advantageous. You are customer-centric, always prioritizing internal and external customers, with a genuine passion for food and a people-oriented approach. Driven by performance, you aim to deliver excellent results. You communicate effectively and professionally via phone or email, and are self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Your tenacity and flexibility enable you to adapt to changing demands and challenges.
