Required as soon as possible Reference: 0418 This post of Specialist Infrastructure Engineer will be a pivotal part of a team providing skilled and efficient infrastructure support to West Suffolk Council and its partners. Your main role will be to contribute to the design, specification, procurement and ongoing support of the council’s IT infrastructure. This will include developing, maintaining, supporting and optimising key functional areas, particularly server and storage infrastructure, network infrastructure, MS365 cloud services, voice telephony and video conferencing services. You will need an expert level knowledge in one of more of the key functional areas; server and storage infrastructure, network infrastructure, MS365 cloud services, voice telephony and video conferencing services. You will also require excellent analytical and organisational skills. Effective communication skills are essential, together with a strong customer centric approach, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and work as part of a team. What you will need to: be able to execute small to medium size IT infrastructure projects with minimal supervision be able to work unsupervised to conduct complex and critical updates out of hours that could affect all users on the network if not properly planned and executed ensure maximum availability of the IT infrastructure for the council’s staff and users of its online services. This includes appropriate planning of upgrades and new components to minimise downtime provide a point of technical escalation for problems that first and second line staff are unable to resolve help manage all infrastructure hardware and equipment and security solutions in collaboration with the Infrastructure Manager and other engineers as required collaborate with the customer support team leader to resolve calls and mitigate end-user issues.
