An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer – Dispenser to join the dedicated team delivering dispensing and ward services from the Pharmacy department at Friarage Hospital. You will be based at Friarage Hospital participating in the dispensing services under the management of the Dispensary Manager. You will be dispensing a wide variety of prescription types including controlled drugs, prescription‑only medicines and unlicensed drugs for the in‑patients of Friarage and the community hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispense prescriptions to L2 pharmacy services standard, including controlled drugs, prescription‑only medicines and unlicensed drugs for in‑patients and community hospitals.
* Maintain knowledge of a broad range of drugs and stay familiar with pharmacy law and professional practice from either hospital or community setting.
* Support dispensary and extended/out‑of‑hours rotas, including weekend and bank holiday work.
* Participate in daily dispensing and ward services under the supervision of the Dispensary Manager.
Working Hours and Rotas
The successful candidate will work full‑time hours 08:30‑17:00 Monday‑Friday. Additional rosters include:
* Weekend working once every 5 weeks: Saturday 09:00‑13:30 and Sunday 09:00‑12:00, reimbursed with a full weekday off the following week.
* Contribution to bank holiday working rota.
Qualifications
* Experience dispensing to L2 pharmacy services standard.
* Knowledge of a broad range of drugs.
* Familiar with pharmacy law and professional practice.
* Currently working towards the L2 dispensing certificate; completion required by the end of 2025.
Training and Development
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. The training programme includes:

Successful candidates who are new to the Trust and require DBS clearance for the post will be required to pay the cost of their DBS, paid via salary deduction from the first month's pay.
