Locum Planning Lawyer – Local Authority – South West – Full Time – up to £60 Umbrella - 12 month Contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Planning Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the South West on an interim basis, starting in March for a duration of 12 months, subject to extension thereafter.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed general planning caseload with a particular focus on Section 106 agreements. Remote working is available, however the successful candidates will be expected to attend the office on day 1 and attend Planning Committees in person once per month.
Duties may include the following:
1. Providing advice on a wide range of planning matters including highways
2. Drafting and negotiating sector 106 agreements
3. Advising and representing clients in negotiations and discussions with third parties in planning matters and legal practice areas relevant to the post
4. Providing legal advice and support to any of the client Committees and Directorates when directed
5. Undertaking research and providing advice to the Council in the areas of planning law specifically and Local Government Law generally
6. Attending planning committees
