Help communicate the impact of some of the world's most significant philanthropic gifts
Are you an excellent writer and project manager who enjoys turning complex information into engaging stories? Do you want your work to help inspire and sustain world-changing research, discovery, and education?
We're looking for a
Reporting and Communications Associate
to join our
Donor and Volunteer Relations team
in Cambridge University's
Development and Alumni Relations Office (CUDAR)
. This is an opportunity to help shape how we thank and engage the University's most generous benefactors — ensuring they see the real-world difference their philanthropy makes.
Why this role matters
Philanthropy powers Cambridge's mission — enabling cutting-edge research, expanding student access, and driving innovation across the world. Stewarding these gifts is as important as securing them. Our team produces high-quality, personalised impact reports that demonstrate accountability and inspire continued support.
As we prepare for Cambridge's next major fundraising campaign, this role will be central to how we communicate impact and strengthen long-term donor relationships.
What you'll do
* Project manage
end-to-end process of creating donor reports: from planning and gathering content to writing compelling narratives, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
* Design and lay out
impact reports using Adobe InDesign and our digital publishing tools, ensuring reports are visually engaging and meet brand standards.
* Collaborate
with senior academics, fundraisers, and colleagues to gather stories and translate complex data into accessible, compelling narratives.
* Interpret and present financial information
in a clear, donor-friendly way.
* Shape best practice
, helping to improve how Cambridge demonstrates the impact of philanthropy.
* Contribute to new formats
, including multimedia and digital storytelling, as we evolve how we report impact.
Who we're looking for
You might currently work in journalism, publishing, communications, or marketing — or in donor relations. What matters most is your ability to manage projects, write well, and build strong working relationships.
You'll bring:
* Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
* Confidence managing multiple projects and deadlines.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with senior stakeholders.
* Analytical ability to interpret and present financial or research information clearly.
* A collaborative approach and the judgement to handle sensitive information with tact.
Experience in higher education or fundraising is welcome but not essential.
Why Cambridge
At Cambridge, you'll be part of a community that shapes ideas and discoveries with global impact. We offer:
* A meaningful mission
– play a part in advancing world-class education and research.
* Career growth
– access to mentorship, training, and professional development.
* Work-life balance
– hybrid working, generous leave, and a culture that supports wellbeing.
* Diversity and inclusion
– a workplace that values diverse perspectives and encourages everyone to thrive.
* Exceptional benefits
– including a world-class pension, extensive discounts, and access to Cambridge's cultural and learning resources.
If you're ready to use your communication skills to make a lasting difference, we'd love to hear from you.
