1) Exercise of general professional duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
* (a) if employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal;
* (b) if employed by a board on terms under which he/she is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school where he/she may be required to work.
2) Exercise of particular duties
(a) Teachers (other than principals) shall perform duties as reasonably directed by the principal.
(b) Teachers employed under paragraph 1(b) shall perform duties as reasonably directed by the board or the principal of the school where they work.
3. Main Responsibilities
1. Planning
2. Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
3. Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
4. Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils’ development, progress, and attainment.
1. General Responsibilities
2. Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
3. Providing advice and guidance on educational, social, and career matters;
4. Making records and reports on pupils’ personal and social needs;
5. Communicating with parents;
6. Collaborating with external bodies and attending relevant meetings.
1. Assessment/Reporting
2. Contributing to assessments, reports, and references for pupils.
1. Staff Development
2. Participating in staff development schemes;
3. Reviewing and developing teaching methods and programmes;
4. Advising on course and assessment development.
1. Discipline and Safety
2. Maintaining discipline and safeguarding health and safety;
3. Participating in curriculum and pastoral meetings.
1. Public Examinations
2. Preparing pupils for public exams and participating in assessment and supervision during exams.
1. Management and Administration
2. Contributing to staff appointments and professional development;
3. Managing or coordinating work of other teachers;
4. Participating in curriculum, organizational, and pastoral activities;
5. Handling administrative tasks, including supervision and attendance registration.
1. Working Hours
2. Availability for 195 days per year, with specific weekly hours and breaks as specified;
3. Performing duties at times and places set by the principal or employing authority;
1. Cover Duties
2. Supervising pupils in the absence of their teacher, with conditions based on school size and teacher absence duration.
