Job Introduction
We are seeking a Trainee Train Planner to join our team based from our Head Office in London Bridge (hybrid working). As a Trainee Train Planner, you will support the Train Planning department in the development, production and communication of revised train plans in response to service disruption, engineering work, and other operational changes. You will assist in ensuring amended train plans are accurate, timely, and effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders. This role provides foundational experience in Train Planning and offers development towards becoming a Planning Specialist.
What You’ll Do
* Assist in preparing draft amended train plans under supervision.
* Collate operational data to support revised planning requirements.
* Update and maintain planning systems and documentation.
* Support liaison with internal stakeholders regarding amendments.
* Ensure information is submitted in accordance with procedures.
* Maintain accurate live and historic records.
* Assist in evaluating planning scenarios and identifying issues.
* Provide administrative support to the Amended Planning Specialist.
* Contribute to continuous improvement within Train Planning.
* Comply with all safety, security and company policies.
The Experience You’ll Need
* Good standard of general education (GCSE or equivalent desirable).
* Basic understanding of rail operations or transport planning (desirable).
* Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
* Interest in railway operations and service planning.
* Willingness to learn train planning systems and processes.
* Understanding of Southern Railway service patterns (desirable).
