About the Property & Investment Team
The Property & Investment team of Portsmouth City Council manages a multi-million‑pound portfolio that sits on a total asset value exceeding £1 billion. The team handles a diverse range of assets across the UK, including office campuses, industrial sites, retail sites, ports and leisure facilities.
Job Purpose
Support the management of the council’s property assets cost‑effectively while nurturing high‑quality tenant relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Value all types of property within your portfolio.
* Generate revenue and capital income from the properties.
* Conduct commercial landlord and tenant work – rent reviews, lease renewals and similar agreements.
* Manage your own portfolio of properties and deliver service to tenants.
Qualifications and Experience
* Near completion of or a degree/qualification that qualifies for RICS APC in a commercial or valuation discipline.
* Demonstrated technical knowledge from study and a practical, common‑sense approach to property matters.
* Strong desire to learn on the job and to undertake the APC qualification for full RICS membership.
* Enthusiasm to take on varied projects, generate income and challenge existing practices.
* Valid full manual driving licence; order to travel frequently within the area.
Working Conditions
* Hybrid working – office attendance minimum 2 days a week (part‑time pro‑rata). Flexibility depends on role and business needs.
* Office based most days with regular customer interaction out of the office.
* We are not able to offer sponsorship for this position.
* You will receive support from chartered surveyor mentors working towards APC.
