Overview
The Onyx Research Data Tech organization is GSK’s research data ecosystem that brings together, analyzes, and empowers the exploration of data at scale. It partners with scientists across GSK to understand their challenges, develop tailored solutions, and provide the right data and insights when needed to accelerate medical discovery. Onyx is a full‑stack shop with product and portfolio leadership, data engineering, infrastructure & DevOps, data/metadata/knowledge platforms, and AI/ML & analysis platforms.
Responsibilities
* Define and manage overall program governance and delivery model for complex initiatives, including milestones, success criteria, decision rights, and steering committees.
* Develop and manage project and program plans; drive execution within scope, time and budget.
* Lead large‑scale, multi‑track programs with cross‑functional dependencies and external partners.
* Lead Shiprooms and agile sprint ceremonies, project tracking/reporting, and backlog management with product managers.
* Partner with engineering, quality, and product teams to validate technical designs and ensure delivery approaches are scalable, secure, cost‑effective and aligned to Onyx platform and cloud architecture standards.
* Implement and govern program‑level project management discipline across product deliverables, including Atlassian tooling configuration.
* Leverage Atlassian and AI‑enabled reporting capabilities; support governance implementation through integrations with BI systems.
* Manage third‑party and vendor engagements; define statements of work (SOWs), review delivery plans, measure performance and ensure contractual compliance.
* Establish and track program KPIs and health metrics; present regularly to leadership and make data‑driven recommendations.
* Define tracking measures and build automated reports and dashboards; synthesize data to support tactical and strategic decisions.
* Lead change control and release coordination across multiple teams and environments.
* Embed robust risk management practices; identify, address, or escalates risks requiring senior discussion.
* Drive continuous improvement across delivery practices; run retrospectives, capture lessons, update processes, and embed improvements into tooling.
* Mentor and coach program and delivery leads; build delivery capability with clear roles, career paths, and enablement sessions.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in IT Program Management, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
* 6+ years of job‑related experience with an established track record of program delivery for software applications.
* 4+ years’ experience in Agile program/project management, including use of tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Preferred Experience
* Master’s degree.
* Demonstrated comfort operating and leading across organizational boundaries in a matrixed team.
* Metrics‑first mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range (based on location): $117,975 to $196,625 annually. The role offers an annual bonus and eligibility for GSK’s share‑based incentive program. Benefits include health care, retirement, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
