Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Pharmacy Technician to lead our Homecare and wider Commercial Services team with the operational arena of the North Bristol NHS Trust Pharmacy Department. This is a senior leadership role with a primary focus on the delivery, performance and strategic development of Pharmacy Homecare and wider commercial services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead at a strategic level, shaping services that directly impact over 7,000 patients.
* Lead a well‑established team of registered and unregistered staff, providing clear direction, support and development.
* Hold responsibility for service performance, governance and commercial oversight, ensuring safe, compliant and effective delivery across all areas of the service.
* Emphasise staff development, continuous professional growth, leadership and career progression within a supportive environment.
* Combine clinical governance, leadership and service innovation, influencing the wider healthcare system.
* Lead and manage a Pharmacy Homecare Team, with oversight of commercial services including logistics and WDA(H) activities.
* Ensure safe, effective, patient‑centred service delivery while managing staff performance, workload and capacity.
* Represent the organisation in NHS forums and contribute to regional and national initiatives.
* Strategically develop and improve services by implementing new ways of working such as electronic prescribing, developing homecare services, and supporting medicines optimisation and cost‑efficiency.
* Analyse performance data and produce reports and business cases to support growth.
* Ensure governance, compliance and risk management, adhering to medicines legislation, GDP/WDA(H) and policies.
* Develop SOPs, conduct incident investigations, audits, inspections and quality assurance.
* Oversee timely and accurate medicine supply, manage contracts and SLAs, resolve supply issues, and support MDT working.
* Carry out financial responsibilities: budget management, KPI monitoring, supplier performance and cost‑saving initiatives.
* Line‑manage staff through recruitment, training, appraisal and fostering an inclusive team culture.
* Handle operational responsibilities such as ACPT duties, Deputy Responsible Person and clinical prescription validation.
