Wyre Forest District Council has a proactive, driven and supportive Local Planning Authority that has a strong 5-year housing land supply, on-going regeneration projects and thriving biodiversity. We want to prepare a fresh new Development Plan for the district and are looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to lead and oversee the formulation and implementation of this. Our Planning team comprises an inclusive, hardworking, and friendly team of Officers, working together to contribute to sustainable development within the district. Principal Planning Policy Officer Responsibilities include; Delivery of the spatial planning functions in support of the Council’s Corporate Priorities. Lead on the preparation, adoption and review of the Council’s Local Plan and other policy/guidance documents. Build and maintain successful and productive relationships with diverse key stakeholders such as with local community groups and other interested parties. To be successful in this role you will have; Degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent qualification. Corporate membership of the RTPI. Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience, some of which will have been spent in a policy formulation role. Sound knowledge of spatial planning principles, concepts and legislation. Demonstrated experience in securing the adoption of a Local Plan. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes within set timeframes and budgets. ICT skills to access information and maps. Good understanding of political awareness. Willingness to attend out of hours Committee and other public meetings. Open to either full time permanent or part time hours. We understand you may use AI tools to help you prepare your application.
