Title: Senior Process Engineer and Process Engineer
Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 12 months +
Rate: £50-£62 Process Engineer and £60-£67 Senior Process Engineer

Purpose of the Job:

To support the site technical authority for your discipline by providing professional technical input to engineering activities. To lead delivery of both major projects and smaller packages of work producing deliverables as well as leading teams of engineers to deliver high quality, fit for purpose engineering solutions that you will then be responsible for Checking & Approval. To work independently to scope packages of work and determine appropriate deliverables and delivery routes, and to work proactively to ensure that emergent issues are appropriately managed. To take ownership of UUK assets, and look to continuously improve aspects of the business within your remit. To effectively communicate detailed information related to specific work packages to a range of stakeholders and provide specialist engineering advice to the wider business.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Delivery of Design and Engineering Support in accordance with defined standards and procedures
- To produce and manage the production of engineering deliverables in accordance with specified standards. Provide information and attend project meetings.
- Prepare relevant design documents in accordance with UUK design procedures, safety case and nuclear site license requirements.

2. Accountable as Design Authority Intelligent Customer for external delivery of design and equipment/installation
- Specify and accept activities and deliverables from contractors, to ensure work is carried out to specification, on time and compliant with UUK procedures.
- Approves deliverables within the scope of your delegated authority.

3. Accountable for delivery to schedule and cost
- Accountable for developing, reviewing and approving achievable project plans and schedules such that the proposed packages of work can be effectively delivered to time and schedule.
- Accountable for efficient delivery of design solutions to meet the requirements of the business. This includes delivering personally, as well as managing the delivery of a team of engineers if required.
- Accountable for producing change management documentation and providing technical review of others' change management documents.

4. Providing Engineering Support to the UUK Business
- Identify solutions to technical problems encountered on site, and ensure these are appropriately controlled and managed
- Monitor performance and condition of assets on site, and take action where required to ensure these are appropriately managed to support continued operation in line with the site asset management plan.
- Ensure the through life management requirements for new and / or existing assets are fully considered and implemented.
- Undertaking commissioning activities when required and authorised to do so.
- Provide technical input to support delivery of work packages within and outside of E&P
- Undertake technical investigations as required.
- Subject Matter Expert for defined areas of expertise.
- Provide concise technical input into forums as required, and make decisions within area of expertise

Vocational Qualifications:

- Degree in relevant discipline-specific Engineering i.e. Chemical or Process Engineering
- Associate member of a relevant engineering institute and pursuing chartered status.

Experience Needed:

- Good understanding of Engineering design processes in a heavily regulated industry.
- Experience working on a Nuclear Licenced site or working on a top tier COMAH site.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a heavily regulated industry.
- Understanding and application of up to date industrial practices related to discipline-specific engineering, including safety through design.
- Working knowledge of other Engineering disciplines, technologies, plant systems and processes.
- Working knowledge of international and UK standards relating to engineering and design related to discipline-specific engineering within the nuclear industry.
- Appreciation of current health and safety legislation.
- Excellent IT skills including Windows and Microsoft applications, Documentum and SAP.
- Ability to use or learn to use specialist software packages (e.g. system modelling packages).
- Capable of producing high quality technical documentation including functional and technical specifications and project documentation.
- Ability to maintain and develop own technical knowledge to ensure the best, cost effective and safe solutions are proposed and implemented.
- Ability to assess problems, feasibility and develop practical solutions.
- Good communication, reporting and presentation skills
