Purpose
To support, and mentor the architectural team in delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality design solutions. This role ensures alignment with the practice’s strategic objectives while contributing to project excellence and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
1. Work closely with the Design Directors to implement the strategic objectives for the architectural discipline.
2. Mentor and Lead the architectural team, ensuring alignment with the practice’s vision, design ethos, and technical excellence.
3. Support the annual growth strategy for the architectural discipline, identifying opportunities for innovation, expansion, and continuous improvement.
4. Collaborate with teams across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of design with technical and commercial objectives.
5. Champion a culture of design excellence, sustainability, and innovation across all projects.
Design & Project Oversight
6. Provide mentoring in the design process, ensuring the highest standards of creativity, sustainability, and functionality.
7. Oversee and review design outputs at all project stages, ensuring alignment with client expectations and industry best practices.
8. Ensure all projects adhere to regulatory and professional standards, including RIBA work stages and best practice guidelines.
9. Support and oversee the implementation of BIM 19650 and other relevant design technologies to enhance efficiency and collaboration.
Line Management & Team Development
10. Provide mentoring to junior members of staff
11. Ensure efficient resource allocation across projects, balancing workload distribution and skill development.
Supporting Business Growth & Multidisciplinary Collaboration
12. Support the overall business objectives of the multidisciplinary practice, ensuring design & technical excellence contributes to commercial success.
13. Identify opportunities for new business, contributing to bids, competitions, and client presentations.
14. Work collaboratively with other disciplines, leading an integrated approach to project delivery and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.
15. Represent the practice externally, promoting its design leadership and engaging with industry networks.
Workflow & Efficiency
16. Establish and refine design workflows to enhance efficiency and consistency across projects.
17. Fully implement the IMS and QA procedures of the Practice
18. Ensure effective coordination between design and technical teams to achieve optimal project outcomes.
