Head of Assets (Traffic Management)

About the Role:
Our Client is seeking a dynamic Head of Assets to lead the development and delivery of asset management strategies for a key player in the Traffic Management sector. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for overseeing a large portfolio of assets including 1,000 vehicles, 3,500 temporary traffic lights, VMS units, and 36 depots. You will have the opportunity to drive forward asset sustainability, performance, and innovation while working closely with senior leadership teams and external stakeholders.
This is a senior position where you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the asset management function, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and supporting long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Asset Management Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy, aligned with business objectives. Focus on asset sustainability, performance optimization, and cost-effectiveness.
* Operational Leadership: Lead the management of Traffic Management assets, including condition assessments, long-term planning, and lifecycle analysis. Ensure assets are maintained and utilized to their full potential, minimizing unnecessary spend.
* Data & Innovation: Drive data-led decision making, leveraging asset management systems and digital tools to optimize asset performance. Stay ahead of industry trends to ensure innovation and competitive advantage.
* Business Development & Growth: Work with internal teams to identify opportunities for growth, better asset utilization, and continuous improvement. Help the business remain competitive through proactive asset management.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with regional teams, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with best practices, policies, and performance targets.
* People Management: Lead and inspire a cross-functional team, including Service Centre, Facilities & Leasing, Procurement, and Fleet teams. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, cost control, and the procurement of new assets, ensuring value for money in every purchase.
What Our Client is Looking For:
* Experience: Proven experience in asset management, specifically within the highways, infrastructure, or transportation sectors.
* Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of asset lifecycle management, risk-based maintenance, and investment optimization.
* Data Proficiency: Expertise in asset management systems and the use of digital tools for infrastructure management.
* Financial Acumen: Excellent understanding of budget management, cost control, and driving financial performance.
* Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or a related field is desirable. Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIHT, IAM) would be a plus.
