Senior Art Consultant & Project Manager

Artelier is a leading international art consultancy based in the UK and Spain. We work on iconic projects worldwide, including public art, exhibitions, private residences, yachts, aviation, corporate and hotel interiors. We are a small, passionate team committed to delivering world‑class artistic and design solutions.


Education & Experience

* At least 10 years of professional experience researching, curating, designing, and managing FF&E and art for international commercial, hospitality and private projects—excluding galleries and museums.
* Minimum of a university degree in project management, architecture, interior / design, or an art‑related discipline.

Highly Desirable Criteria

* Proven track record delivering large‑scale and complex international design projects and programmes.
* Experience managing budgets over £1 million.
* Knowledge of international shipping, imports/exports, and overseas logistics solutions.
* Leadership experience inspiring and managing a team of five or more.
* Strong client relationship management skills.
* Experience managing suppliers, preferably artists and galleries.
* Technical proficiency with project management software, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and AutoCAD.
* Portfolio of design and curation work from concept to detailed documentation.
* Passion for modern and contemporary art and a genuine desire to expand knowledge in the field.


Key Responsibilities


Art Research & Curation

* Research artists and maintain extensive knowledge of contemporary art, craft and design including materiality and production processes.
* Lead innovative approaches to art curation and stay ahead of industry developments.
* Develop sophisticated, research‑based, contextually relevant art concept presentations.
* Refine concept presentations through schematic design mark‑ups on floor plans, elevations and renders.
* Prepare detailed design documents and schedules with item specifications, procurement details and supplier information.
* Liaise with suppliers to establish stock levels, commission details, and arrange sampling.
* Attend project sites to curate pieces and sign off final presentations.
* Maintain understanding of artistic processes, materials and production methods to support decision making and quality control.
* Conduct research into artists, materials and techniques to source suitable suppliers for production, framing and installation.
* Review DD documents and verify artwork specifications prior to supply.
* Manage orders and contracts with artists, overseeing the commissioning process and addressing challenges proactively.
* Troubleshoot technical or aesthetic issues with artworks and collaborate with artists to find solutions.
* Oversee artwork inspections at studio and storage facilities, ensuring quality standards and escalating issues to the Director when necessary.


Project Management & Delivery

* Manage project timelines, track progress of artwork orders, and provide regular reports to the Director.
* Liaise with clients to provide updates, including schedules, sampling and artwork progress.
* Supervise and support project assistants and art technicians to ensure project goals are met.
* Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring delivery within budget. Includes obtaining quotes from artists and suppliers, placing orders, tracking payments, and presenting financial summaries to the Director upon completion.
* Track client payments and coordinate with the Director to maintain cash flow.
* Coordinate with shipping partners to arrange large complex international shipments, obtain quotes, collate invoices, and prepare export documentation.
* Engage with clients at delivery stage to ensure smooth logistics.
* Develop and maintain relationships with trusted logistics and shipping partners.
* Oversee installation of international projects on site, coordinating installation teams for smooth delivery.


General

In a small company, you will also be involved in day‑to‑day administrative tasks, travel to suppliers and project locations, and client‑facing duties. You are expected to be highly professional, confident, and personable, thriving both independently and as a team member.
