Job Summary The position is for a 40‑hour per week (full time) substantive fellow to support disease groups in Medical Oncology. The post holder will be employed by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at The Christie Withington site. The successful applicant will work alongside consultants and trainees in outpatient clinics, supervising chemotherapy delivery and performing on‑treatment reviews, and, where appropriate, inpatient reviews.
Responsibilities
Support outpatient clinics at The Christie and peripheral sites, providing senior input to patient care.
Supervise chemotherapy delivery and perform on‑treatment reviews.
Conduct inpatient reviews when required.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and other relevant meetings.
Assist the Clinical Director of the Directorate of Medical Oncology and the consultants in whose clinics the fellow works.
Work alongside a Clinical Supervisor (Consultant Medical Oncologist) in at least one clinic.
Support the Oncology Research and Treatment Centre (ORTC) when required.
Engage in continuing professional development and research activities.
Person Specification Essential Qualifications
MB BCh or equivalent.
GMC registration (can be achieved after interview).
Desirable Qualifications
MRCP (UK).
Essential Experience
Research awareness.
Experience in oncology at a senior level.
Understanding of audit principles.
Willingness and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Experience of and ability to teach junior medical staff, medical students and nurses.
