Responsibilities
The GE Vernova Solar and Storage Solutions business is expanding. The Senior Customer Project Engineer – Energy Storage will support projects executed under EPC or EEP contract frameworks.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Energy Storage Customer Project Engineer manages all aspects of energy storage product and system design for assigned projects.
* Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of energy storage projects, including developing drawings, schematics, layouts, relay protection, control requirements, and equipment layouts. Also responsible for schedule development, sourcing support, design reviews, quality assurance, and contractor management.
* Review and oversee proposal/bid phase deliverables, including estimating design man-hours, materials, and preparing technical specifications and documentation.
* Direct engineers and designers, including writing equipment specifications, requesting and evaluating vendor quotations, and assessing equipment such as energy storage containers, inverters, control systems, and transformers.
* Serve as the technical contact for customer and project manager interactions, especially during final commissioning.
* Coordinate with sourcing and project teams to meet project specifications, costs, and schedules, ensuring high-quality deliverables on time and within budget.
Support process improvements, perform root cause analyses, and contribute to quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSEE preferred)
* Extensive experience in substation and energy storage project design in industrial or utility settings, with knowledge of relevant design calculations and standards.
* Strong communication skills, team leadership, and accountability for delivering high-quality results.
* Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally for project needs, adhering to company policies.
Desired Characteristics
* Familiarity with standards like National Connections Guidelines, Energy Networks Australia, G99, and CDM regulations.
* Chartered Engineering registration preferred.
* Experience with IEEE or IEC standards, field testing, troubleshooting, and power equipment operation.
* Ability to develop standards and structured programs, with strong customer presence and project management skills.
