Mould/Tooling Engineer
Tallington (near Stamford) or Stoke-on-Trent
If you like the idea of taking ownership of tooling and shaping how new moulds are introduced into production, this role will suit you well.
You’ll spend your time moving between design discussions, supplier conversations and the shop floor acting as the link between what the business needs and how the tooling is built, tested and optimised. One moment you’re reviewing CAD drawings and spotting improvements, the next you’re supporting a trial run and adjusting parameters to get the best performance out of a new mould.
You’ll play a key part in making sure new tooling arrives on time, works as intended and meets the standards needed for smooth, efficient production. You’ll be the person colleagues turn to when they need insight into mould behaviour, troubleshooting support, or guidance on how to get the most out of a tool.
The role can be based at either the Tallington site (near Stamford) or the Stoke-on-Trent site, with occasional travel between sites depending on project activity.
What you’ll be doing
Reviewing tooling designs, feeding back improvements and working with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability and cost‑effectiveness
Supporting the introduction of new injection mould tooling into production
Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams during mould trials
Troubleshooting issues such as wear, flashing, leakage or dimensional variation
Visiting suppliers when needed to monitor progress or resolve technical concerns
Required experience
Hands‑on experience with injection moulding
Comfortable reviewing CAD drawings (no need to be an expert, just competent)
Experience supporting the introduction or optimisation of tooling
Confident working with both suppliers and internal engineering teams
Typically around 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
Desirable
Exposure to mould design discussions or flow analysis tools
Thermoplastic and/or thermoset tooling experience
Lean, Six Sigma or continuous‑improvement background
Engineering qualification
