Health Care Assistant (HCA in General Practice)
NTGP has a fantastic opportunity for a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our multi-disciplinary team. We offer an attractive and competitive package depending on experience with avenues of growth.
The position will require sessions from both locations (on different days). We are flexible with sessions available. The days can be negotiated to suit you, the team & patients.
The HCA will act autonomously within their professional scope of practice providing care for patients face to face, telephone consultations and home visits.
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) will work as part of the General Practice clinical team to provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients. The role involves supporting GPs, Practice Nurses, and other clinicians in the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services, including clinical duties, administrative support, and health promotion activities
You will be responsible for the provision of medical services to our patient population managing a caseload dealing with a wide range of health needs. You will be supporting & supported by the wide range of clinical and non-clinical team within the practice.

We are large forward-thinking practice of 15,000 patients, providing quality healthcare and outcomes for our patients in the North Trafford area. We operate from two sites Chester Road and Seymour Grove.
The team at NTGP comprises of 3 GP Partners, 8 Salaried GPs, 2 Physician Associates, 2 Pharmacists, and 4 Nursing team along with non-clinical team of 30+ staff managed by the Business Manager.
Our practices have been rated as Good by CQC and we take pride in delivering quality care to our patients and have a strong training and personal development ethos. We are part of North Trafford Primary Care Network and one of the partners is the Joint Clinical Director.
We are using EMIS Web and DOCMAN as our clinical system along with Ask My GP to provide digital platform to our patients.
Job responsibilities
Perform clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, height, and BMI.
Undertake phlebotomy
Perform ECGs and urinalysis.
Administer NHS Health Checks, including cardiovascular risk assessment and lifestyle advice.
Support chronic disease monitoring as directed (e.g., diabetes foot checks, spirometry if trained, physical assessments).
Perform wound care and simple dressings (following protocols).
Carry out vaccinations where appropriately trained and authorised (e.g., flu vaccines under PSD).
Undertake swabs, B12 injections, and other delegated duties within competencies.
Record all clinical activity accurately onto the clinical system (EMIS/ICE)
Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCA within primary Care (preferably General Practice)
* Qualified and Trained Phlebotomist
* Ability to take vitals like BP, Pulse, height weight etc
* Experience of working in General Practice
* Understanding of EMIS clinical system
* Required knowledge of long term conditions and physical assessment required.
